About Niles Skatepark
Niles Skatepark (located inside Riverfront Park) is a free public, outdoor concrete skatepark at 600-752 Front St, Niles, MI 49120. Sitting on the east bank of the St. Joseph River just north of downtown, it is one of the longest-standing concrete parks in southwest Michigan and was designed by LRM & Associates. The park runs as an unsupervised city facility, open seven days a week through spring, summer, and fall outside of inclement weather. There is no overhead lighting, so sessions run daylight to dusk. The layout is one continuous concrete field with no dead space between sections. The back end is anchored by a large multi-depth flow bowl with walls roughly six to nine feet, spilling into a wide-open street half built around rolling banks, hips, a volcano, a center pyramid, hubba ledges, manny pads, a flat bar, a down rail, and quarter pipes and extensions wrapped along the perimeter. Transitions are older and a little lumpy, which gives the place its character and keeps it a rewarding park to learn lines on. Skateboards and inline skates are permitted, bikes are not. The fenced grounds include parking off Front St plus Riverfront Park's trails, playground, amphitheater, and picnic shelters.
