Kalamazoo Skatepark is a free public, outdoor concrete skatepark in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The park has an older, transition-heavy design that stands apart from the newer street-plaza parks around southwest Michigan. Its well-worn concrete, layers of graffiti, and deep transition give it a distinctly old-school local character, with the terrain built more around maintaining speed and carving lines than setting up individual street tricks. The layout centers on a large connected transition area with multiple depths, rounded corners, steep banks, quarter-pipe walls, and bowl-style pockets feeding into an open concrete flat. One of the deeper sections drops below the main deck and creates a more substantial bowl line, while shallower walls and banks around the perimeter give riders several ways to enter, transfer, and move across the park. Street terrain is limited compared with the amount of transition, making this a park that rewards carving, pumping, airs, coping tricks, and creative use of the banks and walls. The park has a raw, heavily skated feel, with graffiti covering much of the transition and concrete surfaces. Fencing and elevated decks wrap around portions of the riding area, leaving places to watch sessions or reset between runs.
