Clemente DIY Skatepark, located at 546 Rumsey St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, is a free outdoor DIY concrete skatepark built on the old tennis courts of Roberto Clemente Park. After the City of Grand Rapids handed the abandoned courts over to local skaters around 2016, the community raised its own funds and hand-poured the park itself, growing it concrete pour by concrete pour into one of the city's most beloved grassroots skate spots. True to its DIY roots, the layout is a creative, ever-evolving mix of street and transition features that flow together once you learn the lines, including hand-built banks, quarter pipes, ledges, manual pads, and hips. The build favors flow and street skating over a beginner-friendly footprint, giving it the raw, character-rich feel that only a skater-built park can offer. Welcoming skateboards, scooters, inline skates, and BMX bikes, Clemente is praised by locals for its tight-knit community and well-kept obstacles. Whether you're carving the transitions, grinding the ledges, or pitching in to help pour the next feature, it is as much a community project and hangout as it is a place to skate.
