About Baldwin Skatepark
Baldwin Skate Park is a free public, outdoor skatepark located along Washington Street in Baldwin, MI 49304. The skatepark sits inside Hollister Park near the corner of Washington and 10th Streets, just west of downtown and behind the Lake County Courthouse. The Village of Baldwin developed the skatepark after receiving a $65,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant in 2010, turning a previously undeveloped section of the park into a dedicated riding area with skate features installed over a paved surface. The layout is a simple back-and-forth street and transition course with a lot of open pavement separating the obstacles. Quarter pipes and banks sit around the outside, with a small mini ramp providing the park's main transition feature. Through the middle are a funbox, low manual pad and ledge, flat rail, kicker-style banks, and additional grindable elements that can be approached from either direction. The relatively mellow obstacle heights make Baldwin particularly approachable for beginners and younger riders, while the open run-up space gives more experienced skaters and BMX riders room to put together straightforward lines. Bikes are permitted, and there is no dedicated lighting over the skate area. Hollister Park is a larger community recreation complex surrounding the skatepark, with basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, beach volleyball, baseball fields, a playground, picnic areas, restrooms, and parking. Mature trees and grass surround the skate area, while benches and trash receptacles provide places to sit between sessions. The park's central location makes Baldwin Skate Park a convenient small-town spot rather than a destination-scale facility, best suited to casual sessions, learning tricks, and riders looking for a basic mix of street and transition features.
