About Alpena Skatepark
Alpena Skatepark is a free public, outdoor recreational park located at 402 N 9th Ave, Alpena, MI 49707. Positioned along the scenic Thunder Bay River, this unstaffed community facility serves as the premier action sports progression zone for skateboarding in Alpena County. The park operates daily from dawn to dusk and welcomes all traditional non-motorized wheels. The layout features a broad, open-flow asphalt foundation pad fully populated by heavy-duty, weather-resistant timber and Skatelite ramps. The transition layout is anchored by an extra-wide half-pipe mini ramp and a multi-level bank of expansive quarter-pipes equipped with professional safety railings for dropping in. The central street plaza integrates these features using a multi-sided funbox pyramid, launching bank ramps, a straight grind ledge, a grind rail, and low manual pads. Situated right inside Riverside Park, visitors enjoy direct access to scenic water views, shaded picnic spaces, walking trails, and adjacent paved parking.
