Despite the name, the track sits in South El Monte rather than the city of Whittier. Established around 1990, the track is run as a volunteer-powered nonprofit and is sanctioned by USA BMX, making it one of the Los Angeles area's long-standing homes for organized BMX racing. Riders of all ages take part, and a separate balance-bike track gives the youngest kids a safe place to learn before graduating to the main course. Unlike a drop-in pump track, this is a structured race facility rather than a free-ride spot. Gates open on scheduled practice nights, typically midweek evenings, with racing on Saturdays. Practice sessions run about $6, race entries about $12 (balance bike $7), and a USA BMX membership is required to ride; single-day trial memberships are generally available for newcomers. The track itself is a groomed dirt circuit of starting hill, rollers, jumps, and banked turns maintained by the track operator and local families.
