About Whitney Park Pump Track
The Whitney Park Pump Track is a free public asphalt pump track at Whitney Community Park, 1801 Whitney Ranch Parkway in Rocklin, California. Designed by American Ramp Company and developed with input from the Rocklin Bike Coalition, it held its grand opening on April 23, 2025 and is billed as the first facility of its kind in Placer County. The facility features two separate asphalt tracks. The main track serves more experienced riders with steep rollers and sharp banked turns, while a smaller secondary track is barrier-free by design, welcoming young children, beginners, and riders with varying abilities. It is described as the first adaptive pump track in the region. Because a pump track is ridden by pumping over rollers and through berms rather than pedaling, the layout doubles as a skills course for cyclists of all levels. The track has already hosted competitive events, including a qualifier for the UCI Pump Track World Championships. The track is bike-only: pedal-powered BMX and mountain bikes are best suited, while e-bikes, motorized devices, skateboards, scooters, and pedestrians are not permitted on the riding surface. Helmets are required, riders must travel in the same direction and in control, children must be accompanied by adults, and the asphalt should not be ridden when wet. Whitney Community Park surrounds the track with restrooms, playgrounds for preschool and school-aged kids, covered picnic pavilions with barbecues, a water play area, sports fields, walking paths, and free Wi-Fi. The park is open from dawn until one hour after sunset.
