About San Clemente Pump Track
San Clemente Pump Track is a free public, outdoor asphalt pump track at 301 Avenida La Pata in San Clemente, California, built at Richard T. Steed Memorial Park on the site of the former dirt dog park, right next to the city's skatepark and pickleball courts. It holds the distinction of being Orange County's first asphalt pump track. The City of San Clemente awarded American Ramp Company a $615,000 contract to design and build the amenity, which was approved in December 2024 and celebrated its grand opening on April 26, 2025. The project was community-driven and funded through a mix of private, non-profit and public partnerships. Spanning roughly 18,000 square feet, the track winds for more than 500 feet with smooth rollers and banked berms that let riders generate speed without pedaling. A smaller secondary loop gives beginners a place to warm up and learn the basics before dropping into the main circuit, and marked riding direction keeps traffic flowing safely. The pump track is a free, non-supervised city facility open daily from dawn to dusk. Grand-opening coverage describes it as an all-wheel facility for bikes, skateboards and scooters; motorized vehicles are prohibited, helmets are required with no exceptions, and all riders must travel the same direction with safe spacing. Children 8 and under need adult supervision. Its location beside the San Clemente Skate Park and adjacent to the Forster Ranch trail network makes the La Pata corridor a genuine one-stop destination for wheels of every kind.
