About Ramsay Park Pump Track
Ramsay Park Pump Track is a free public, outdoor asphalt pump track at 32 Harkins Slough Rd in Watsonville, California, inside 26-acre Ramsay Park, the city's largest park. At roughly 20,000 square feet it is both the largest pump track in Santa Cruz County and the county's only paved one, sitting a short roll from the separate Ramsay Skatepark. The track was designed and built by the nonprofit Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (now Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship) in partnership with the City of Watsonville, with funding from private donors and sponsors including Bell Helmets. Construction took about six months, and the track officially opened in late March 2021 as a long-awaited piece of bike infrastructure for South Santa Cruz County. It is a free, non-supervised facility open daily from sunrise to 8:00 PM. Though the city labels it a bicycle pump track, it was built as an all-wheels circuit welcoming BMX bikes, mountain bikes, skateboards, scooters, and roller skates, and its paved surface keeps it rideable in all seasons, unlike the region's dirt tracks. The layout is a carefully sculpted circuit of rollers, berms, hips, and jumps split into two zones: the north side carries larger, more technical rollers, berms, and jumps for experienced riders, while the south side offers smaller, mellower features suited to kids and first-timers. Underground storm drainage and native landscaping round out the build. Ramsay Park adds parking, restrooms, playgrounds, a skatepark, soccer and softball fields, tennis and basketball courts, and the Ramsay Park Family Center, with levee trail access nearby.
