About Quarry Park Pump Track
Quarry Park Pump Track is a free public dirt pump track in Quarry Park, a 517-acre San Mateo County park in El Granada on the coastside, about four miles north of downtown Half Moon Bay. The park entrance is near the corner of Santa Maria Avenue and Columbus Street, just off Highway 1 via Coronado Street. The track opened in July 2022 after a decades-long community push for a legal place to ride on the coast. Its design came out of a collaboration between San Mateo County Parks and the local biking community, and American Ramp Company was selected by the County Board of Supervisors to build it. The roughly $300,000 project was funded by the Granada Community Services District ($100,000), Coastside Mountain Bikers ($15,000), the San Mateo County Parks Foundation ($11,000), REI ($6,000), and the County. Occupying about an acre, the compacted-earth track offers three routes: a beginner/intermediate loop, an intermediate/advanced loop, and a perimeter skill-building track featuring a rock garden, teeter-totter, bridge wave, and log pile. The flowing rollers and banked berms suit everyone from kids on training wheels to advanced riders catching air. The track is bike-specific, free, and unsupervised. Dogs are not allowed inside the fenced track area. It receives maintenance every Wednesday, when it may be partially or fully closed, and it closes during and after wet weather to protect the dirt surface; call the Quarry Park office at 650-355-8289 for conditions. Trackside amenities include seating areas, picnic tables, and a bike fix-it station, while the wider park adds parking, restrooms, playgrounds, barbecue areas, a community garden, and miles of hiking trails.
