About Glorya Jean Tate Park Pump Track
Glorya Jean Tate Park Pump Track is a free public, outdoor asphalt pump track at 3254 Abdy Way in Marina, California, just east of Highway 1 and north of Reservation Road. At nearly 30,000 square feet, it is the first pump track built in Monterey County and one of the largest paved tracks in the region. The project began in 2015 when local rider and Monterey Off Road Cycling Association trail crew leader Darius Rike pitched the idea to the Marina city council. The city funded it primarily with municipal money and grants, engaged Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship to see the build through, and had the track experience designed by Zach Wormhoudt and Kord McKinney of the Wormhoudt Collective. A packed grand opening celebration was held on May 13, 2023. The track is free and non-supervised, open during regular city park hours from sunrise until about an hour after sunset. It welcomes bikes, scooters, and skateboards, and riders of all ages and abilities turned out from day one, from balance-bike toddlers to experienced racers. The fully connected asphalt circuit flows through curves, berms, rollers, and jumps, with standout features including two wall rides measuring 40 feet and 20 feet, so riders can link lines of varying difficulty and lap continuously. The surrounding Glorya Jean Tate Park has grown into a multi-use neighborhood park with a playground, two half-court basketball courts, pickleball courts, a dog park separated by dog size, an outdoor exercise area, gazebos, a cornhole area, and parking; a grand reopening in June 2026 celebrated the expanded amenities.
