Elkhorn BMX is a classic outdoor dirt BMX racing track at 848 Elkhorn Boulevard in Rio Linda, California, on the northern edge of the Sacramento area near the Sacramento River bike trail. Billing itself as the "Fastest Track in NorCal," it is a USA BMX-sanctioned track (CA11) and a longtime fixture of the regional racing scene. Established in 1999, Elkhorn BMX is run as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is 100 percent volunteer operated and family run, dedicated to helping riders of all ages grow their love and understanding of BMX. Riders from balance-bike beginners to seasoned racers turn laps here, and the track regularly hosts series races, including USA BMX multi-star events. Unlike a public pump track, this is an organized racing facility rather than a drop-in park. Riding happens during scheduled sessions: gate practice is typically held early in the week and on Thursdays, with race nights on Tuesdays and Fridays during the season. A USA BMX membership and modest practice or race-entry fees apply, though newcomers can try the track free on their first visit. The track itself is a groomed dirt course with a starting gate, jump sections, rollers, and banked berm turns laid out for sprint racing. BMX bikes and helmets (with standard BMX protective gear) are required to ride. Parking is available on site.
