Centennial Way Park South is a free public park in South San Francisco that pairs a street-style skate plaza with an asphalt bike pump track, set along the Centennial Way Trail between Spruce Avenue and Huntington Avenue. The four-acre linear park was built atop the BART tunnel corridor and celebrated its grand opening on September 29, 2024. The skate space is a granite plaza designed by Wormhoudt Inc. with input from local skaters, and it is billed as the first plaza of its kind in the United States built entirely from precision-cut granite. The simple, linear layout offers a long run of flat ground with rectangular granite ledges and basic embankments, emulating an urban street-skating environment with a surface quality usually reserved for famous street spots. A short roll away, the asphalt pump track loops in a circle and sits partially under shade. Its rollers and banked turns suit bikes, scooters, and skateboards, and the smooth paved surface makes it approachable for beginners while still fun for experienced riders working on flow. The park is free, unsupervised, and managed by the City of South San Francisco Parks & Recreation Department. Note that the site is primarily accessed from the Centennial Way Trail rather than a dedicated parking lot, so many visitors arrive by bike or on foot. Beyond the wheels, the park includes playgrounds, the area's first nature play area built from reclaimed South City trees, an outdoor classroom, picnic areas, fitness equipment, cornhole courts, and a pollinator garden along the trail.
