About Victoria Park (Bristol)
Victoria Park, officially the Victoria Park Skate and Wheels Park, is a free, outdoor concrete skatepark in Victoria Park on Windmill Hill in Bedminster, south Bristol. Run by Bristol City Council, it opened in early 2024 as Bristol's first purpose-built, accessible, modern skatepark in over 20 years. The project was driven by skater and filmmaker Daniel Higginson, who launched a fundraiser in 2022 and, working with the Victoria Park Action Group, raised around £150,000 through grant applications, public funding, and community infrastructure levies. A further £24,000 came from public fundraising, including kids' own fundraisers. It was designed and built by Bristol-based Wheelscape, who reportedly went above and beyond the budget, and features a flowing, mellow layout with a ramp and bowl, a hip, a flat bank, and a wall stall, since decorated with colourful murals. Its gentle gradients and wide transitions give it a smooth, surfy feel. That makes it great for carving, pumping, and footwork, suiting beginners and longboarders as well as experienced skaters refining their flow. It welcomes skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and rollerbladers, with a plaque commemorating much-missed local skater Ben Devine, and it sits within the historic park alongside tennis courts, a bowling green, and cafés a short walk away on East Street.
