About The Front
The Front is a paid, mostly outdoor wooden skatepark on Preston Beach Road in Weymouth, right opposite the seafront and next to the SEA LIFE Centre. It's run by the Weymouth Skatepark Association as a registered charity, and it has been going since 2001. Every bit of profit goes straight back into building new ramps and improving the park. It's a large complex of bespoke wooden ramps, mainly transition-based, with an outdoor undercover ramp park and Weymouth's only indoor ramp park. The outdoor section has a curved mini ramp with a hipped inner corner and an extension, plus a spine park flanked by quarter pipes with spines, flat banks, hubbas, and roll-overs. The indoor section is a more recent addition, laid out as a long back-and-forth with flat banks, boxes, roll-overs, manny pads, and gaps. There's also an undercover beginners' area for those starting out, so the range runs from beginner to extreme, all overlooking the sea. It caters to skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and inline skaters of all abilities. It's a family-focused community spot: riders must be 6 or over, under-10s supervised, helmets required, and a consent form completed, with sessions booked in advance. On-site there's a skate shop, a skate school, and gear hire from just ยฃ1, with parking and the wider Lodmoor Country Park right there.
