About St Neots Skatepark
St Neots Skatepark is a free, outdoor skatepark in Riverside Park, on the banks of the Great Ouse in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. It's run by Huntingdonshire District Council with strong community involvement. The skate scene here dates back to 1989 and the original "old red ramp," followed by a wooden vert ramp in 1994. The current skatelite park and its competition-grade vert ramp were installed in 2006 after a major fundraising campaign. The large, imaginative layout is mainly transition-based with a few street features. It runs from a big flat bank and roll-in through a driveway and box, into a huge vert wall backing onto a competition-size half pipe. Alongside sits a set of back-to-back mini ramps forming spines and a volcano, with an unusual curved bowl wrapping around them. Well-spaced obstacles give it plenty of line potential for skaters, BMX riders, scooter riders, and bladers. Its vert ramp is one of the only free public outdoor competition ramps in the UK and hosts the Steve Bayless Vert Session, named after a much-loved local skater. Recent upgrades added new lighting and resurfacing, and the riverside park nearby has a cafรฉ, playground, and miniature railway.
