About St. George's Skatepark
St George's Skatepark, also known as St George Wheels Park, is a free, outdoor concrete park in St George Park, a Victorian park in east Bristol. It's run by Bristol City Council. Built by Wheelscape in 1982, it's a classic old-school park that has aged into a local favourite. Wheelscape returned to renovate the surfaces in 2003 and gave it another revamp in November 2012. Its centrepiece is a three-section bowl made of joined round bowls, each one deeper than the last. There's no coping around the rim, so it's easy to roll in and out, with extensions and a roll-in along the edges. The rest of the park holds pump bumps, curved banks, and mellow transitions on one side, with a vert wall and a funbox on the other. Scattered rails and long flowing lines round out an 80s-style layout that suits carvers and surfskaters especially. Painted warnings and a yellow safety line mark the edge of the deep bowl. It sits in a large park with a floodlit basketball court, tennis courts, a playground, a cafรฉ kiosk, and a duck lake.
