About Peebles Skatepark
Peebles Skatepark is a free, outdoor concrete skatepark in Victoria Park, off Kingsmeadows Road in Peebles, in the Scottish Borders. It's run by Scottish Borders Council and was the result of a long community campaign. A group of around 30 young people formed the Peebles Youth Facilities Initiative in the mid-2010s and spent years pushing for a multi-purpose skate, BMX, and scooter facility for the town. After planning was filed in early 2022 and a build contract awarded that August, the floodlit concrete skatepark was built. It added to Victoria Park's wider rejuvenation, which had already brought a new playpark with a Galleon-ship centrepiece and a BMX pump track. The skatepark blends transition and street terrain for all abilities. There's a bowl and bowled corner alongside a street area featuring faux red-brick banks, flat banks, ledges, a low hubba and handrail, a taco, and a bank with an extension. Being floodlit, it can be used well into the evening. It welcomes skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and rollerbladers, and sits within Victoria Park alongside the playpark, pump track, a revamped football area, and a woodland walk, with parking and a coffee van nearby.
