Oxhey Activity Park is a free, outdoor concrete activity park on Wiggenhall Road in Watford, run by Watford Borough Council. It officially opened in September 2020, built on a redundant, waterlogged former Gaelic football pitch on land north of the River Colne. The award-winning park was designed by Southern Green as lead consultant and landscape architect, with its wheeled-sports facilities by Freestyle Skateparks and construction by Borras. It was billed as one of Europe's most innovative environments for wheeled sports and play. Rather than one monolithic bowl, it's divided into distinct zones for every level. These include a skate plaza, a flow park, a pumpscape pump track, a box, and junior and BMX bike trails, plus an off-road bike circuit. The skate plaza offers a good mix of street obstacles like ledges, rails, banks, and manual pads, alongside a wide mini ramp for air time. It welcomes skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and cyclists of all abilities, from absolute beginners to serious enthusiasts. It's a holistic, family-focused destination with accessible, sensory-inclusive play areas, a riverside Tasty Bean cafรฉ with a green roof, outdoor table tennis, and Beryl bike share connected to National Cycle Route 6. It's free and open daily, a short walk from Bushey station, though on-site parking is deliberately limited to encourage sustainable travel.
