About Newtongrange Skatepark
Newtongrange Skatepark is a free, outdoor concrete skatepark set in Newtongrange Park in the former mining village of Newtongrange, Midlothian. It's run by Midlothian Council as an open, unsupervised public facility. The layout combines transition and street terrain, with an open bowl and mini ramp flowing into a street plaza. This gives carving riders and technical skaters their own space to session. The street area holds a driveway feature, ledges, rails, a euro gap, and a flat bank for grinds, slides, and lines. Its smooth concrete and mellow flow make it approachable for a range of abilities. It welcomes skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter riders, and the community pushed hard to get it installed. Local campaigners were instrumental in bringing the park to the village. Set among grass and mature trees, it sits within the wider park alongside a playground, football pitch, tennis court, and changing facilities, with parking on site.
