About Finsbury Park
Finsbury Park Skatepark is a free, outdoor concrete skatepark set in Finsbury Park in north London, next to the tennis courts. It's run by Haringey Council and sits in the middle of one of the capital's great Victorian parks. It was built in 2006 by Fearless Ramps and is a simple, nicely designed park centred on two concrete bowls. One has rounded banks and quarter pipes with a hubba and a fun box along the middle, while the other is shallower and smaller with a tall extension, the two dishes joined by a small driveway. It rides well for its size and is good for skateboarding, BMX, and scooters. It's perhaps a bit small for advanced skaters and can get busy, which makes it a social spot, and every surface is coated in ever-changing graffiti. It has since been renovated and extended, with a concrete slab area adding a variety of street obstacles and ramps. That expansion was helped along by a campaign from the Friends of Finsbury Park for a more beginner-friendly plaza. It welcomes skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and rollerbladers of all levels, with tennis and basketball courts, a cafรฉ, a playground, and a boating lake nearby, plus excellent links from Finsbury Park and Manor House stations. For a bigger session, nearby Clissold Park skatepark is a good alternative.
