About Bridges Urban Park
Bridges Urban Park, officially Bridges Urban Sports Park, is a free, all-concrete urban sports park in Belfast. It sits beneath the M3 flyover at the junction of Little Patrick Street and Corporation Street, near Custom House Square, a short walk from the city centre. It was Northern Ireland's first urban sports park, developed by Belfast City Council with the charity Belfast Urban Sports and designed and built by Freestyle Skateparks. Funding came from the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, the Better Belfast Landfill Tax Credit Fund via the Bryson Charitable Group, and the council's capital programme. The transition section is built around a large rectangular capsule bowl with an oververt, a long extension, and a curved inset section. Off the back runs a street complex with flat banks, a driveway with a euro gap and hubba, a bowled manny-pad section, an up-and-down kicker, a ledge with a pump bump, and a pyramid with a quarter-pipe return. Being tucked under the flyover, it stays rideable through Belfast's frequent rain, and it's floodlit for evening sessions, opening daily from 7:30am. Handrails, hips, and boxes round out the terrain, and every surface is coated in ever-changing graffiti. It's run by Belfast City Council and open to skateboarding, in-line skating, BMX, and parkour, with helmets required and motorised scooters and other vehicles banned. There's a car park right beside it, charging ยฃ3 a day on weekdays and free in the evenings and at weekends.
