About BaySixty6
BaySixty6 is a paid skatepark tucked beneath the Westway flyover at Bay 66, Acklam Road, in North Kensington near Ladbroke Grove. Being under the motorway, it stays dry in the rain while keeping fresh air around its open edges. Plans for the site were first drawn up in 1996 to make use of derelict land under the Westway, and it has run as a supervised skatepark ever since, long sponsored by Nike SB. It's one of West London's best-known skate hubs. The park splits into three main sections. There's a large wooden bowl built with a unique hexagonal-panel technique for a faster, smoother ride, a street area with quarter pipes, ledges, hips, stair sets, funboxes, banks, and a vert wall, and a dedicated beginners' section. It caters to skateboarders, scooter riders, and inline skaters, with BMX access restricted to specific sessions such as Tuesday nights for safety. Sessions are varied and inclusive, including Girls' Nights, Queer & Transkaters nights, "Old Man" nights, beginners' mornings, and an after-school club. Entry runs on per-session and day-pass fees rather than membership. On-site there's a skate shop, board and helmet hire, lockers, toilets, and vending machines, plus a skate academy for coaching, and it's an easy walk from Westbourne Park and Ladbroke Grove stations.
