About Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally)
Alexandra Palace Skatepark, known as Ally Pally, is a free, outdoor concrete skatepark tucked by the boating lake in the grounds of Alexandra Palace, north London. It's managed by the charitable trust that runs the palace and its parkland. The park is a compact assortment of pre-cast concrete ramps in a slightly older-school layout. It has a nice flow and enough variety for a relaxed morning or afternoon session. Features include a run of flat banks and wedges, quarter pipes, hubbas, stair sets, and a funbox with a spine. Layers of graffiti cover the ramps and the back wall, giving it plenty of local character. The mellow terrain suits beginners and intermediate riders more than a full day's advanced session. Skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and bladers all use it. There's no lighting, so the park is locked at dusk and best visited in daylight. It sits within the palace's 196-acre park, with cafรฉs by the pond and Alexandra Palace station close by.
