About Albany Park
Albany Park is a free, outdoor concrete skatepark in Albany Park, off Hertford Road in Enfield, north London, tucked behind the leisure centre. It's run by Enfield Council and is a simple but fairly unique spot. It was converted from a former paddling pool into a skatepark, opened in February 2009 by Freestyle Skateparks. That origin gives it a compact, circular concrete footprint unlike a typical street or transition park. The mellow, flowing design features a couple of slightly curved banks and quarters, a flat-topped ledge, manual pads, and bumps. That makes it well-suited to beginners and younger skaters finding their feet. Its rounded, open layout gives it a smooth carve-around feel rather than a technical setup, and it welcomes skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter riders, and rollerbladers. It's an easygoing neighbourhood spot rather than a destination park. It sits within the wider Albany Park, which Enfield Council has restored in recent years, including reviving the river with Thames21 and adding new wetlands. The park also offers two playgrounds, tennis, basketball and football courts, several football pitches, a small woodland, and the adjacent leisure centre, plus parking.
