About Slavutych City Park
Slavutych's skatepark serves Europe's youngest city - built from scratch in 1986-88 to house workers evacuated from Pripyat after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Each neighborhood of Slavutych was designed and built by a different Soviet republic, creating a unique architectural mosaic - an Estonian quarter, a Georgian quarter, a Lithuanian quarter, all in the Ukrainian forest. The city is a living monument to Soviet-era urban planning and nuclear-age history. The park draws riders from this compact, planned community. The food is cafeteria-style Ukrainian with Soviet-era institutional charm.
