Cherkasy's skatepark in Sosnovyi Bir (Pine Forest) Park serves this Dnipro river city in the heartland of Ukrainian Cossack heritage - the Cherkasy region was the core territory of the Zaporizhzhian Cossacks. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. The city sits on high bluffs above the Kremenchuk Reservoir, one of the massive Soviet-era dams on the Dnipro. Taras Shevchenko, Ukraine's national poet, was born in the Cherkasy Oblast at Moryntsi. The park draws riders from the central Ukrainian heartland. The food is classic Ukrainian - borscht, salo, varenyky, and the river fish from the Dnipro reservoir.
