About Kočevje Skatepark
Kočevje's skatepark serves this southern Slovenian town surrounded by some of Europe's last remaining primeval forest - the Kočevski Rog virgin forest shelters bears, wolves, and lynx in an ecosystem largely unchanged for millennia. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Kočevje's history includes the Gottscheerben, a German-speaking community that lived here for 600 years before WWII displacement. The WWII partisan movement had its base in the surrounding forests. The park draws riders from the Kočevje-Ribnica area. The food is forest-region Slovenian - game meats, wild mushrooms, forest berries, and the suha roba dried goods tradition.
