Nizhny Novgorod's plaza skatepark at the Strelka - the dramatic confluence of the Oka and Volga rivers - serves Russia's fifth-largest city, historically a closed city during Soviet times (as Gorky, named after the writer). The concrete plaza features ledges, manual pads, flat bars, banks, and stairs. The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin crowns the bluff above the confluence, and the city's merchant heritage from the famous Nizhny Novgorod Fair is visible in the restored Strelka area.
