About Sortland Skatepark
Sortland Skatepark is on Strandgata in this Vesterålen town known as 'the Blue Town' because artist Bjørn Elvenes convinced locals to paint buildings in shades of blue. The park features ledges, flat bars, banks, and a quarterpipe. The blue buildings give Sortland a unique, artistic atmosphere, and the surrounding Vesterålen islands offer spectacular scenery with mountains, fjords, and Arctic light. Whale watching safari boats depart from nearby Andøya to see sperm whales. There are restaurants and shops along Strandgata, and the midnight sun season makes for surreal late-night skating.
