About Kirkenes Skatepark

Kirkenes Skatepark is on Skolegata in Kirkenes, Norway's easternmost town, closer to Murmansk than to Oslo and right at the tri-border point where Norway, Finland, and Russia meet. The park has ledges, flat bars, banks, and a quarterpipe. Kirkenes has a fascinating multicultural character with Norwegian, Finnish, Russian, and Sámi influences. The town was heavily bombed during WWII - second only to Malta in bomb tonnage per square meter - and was liberated by the Soviet Red Army. The Hurtigruten coastal voyage terminates here, and king crab safaris are a popular tourist activity. The Arctic setting is stark and beautiful, and skating here is about as far northeast as you can get in Norway.
