About Balestrand Skatepark
Balestrand Skatepark is at Holmen in Balestrand, a picturesque Sognefjord village that has attracted artists since the 1800s, including the legendary painter Hans Dahl. The park has ledges, flat bars, banks, and a quarterpipe. Balestrand's dramatic fjord setting - with the Jostedalsbreen glacier visible across the water - has made it a tourist destination since Victorian times, and the grand Kviknes Hotel (since 1877) dominates the waterfront. The village has galleries, restaurants, and a quieter, more refined atmosphere than many Norwegian fjord towns. Kaiser Wilhelm II used to vacation here, mooring his yacht in the fjord. Skating with glacier views is uniquely Norwegian.
