About Skatepark Zomerkade
Huizen's Zomerkade skatepark sits in this former fishing village on the shore of the Gooimeer, part of the IJmeer lake system separating North Holland from Flevoland. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, a quarter pipe, and flat bars. Huizen retains some of its fishing village character despite becoming a commuter town for Amsterdam and Hilversum - the old harbor and traditional Huizer costumes (still worn by some elderly residents) are reminders of the past. The waterfront setting provides lovely views across the Gooimeer, and the nearby Gooi heathlands offer excellent cycling and hiking. The park draws riders from the Gooi region and benefits from its lakeside location. Summer brings sailors and swimmers to the nearby beaches, creating a resort-like atmosphere. The BRT bus connects to Hilversum in about fifteen minutes for access to the rail network.
