About Skatepark Valkenburg
Valkenburg's skatepark sits in this unique Limburg town known for its castle ruins, cave systems, and being one of the Netherlands' only tourist resort towns. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, a quarter pipe, and flat bars. Valkenburg is the only place in the Netherlands with a hilltop castle (ruined though it may be), and the Gemeentegrot and Fluweelengrot cave systems beneath the town have been carved over centuries for marl stone extraction. The annual Christmas market held inside the Gemeentegrot is atmospheric beyond belief. The town sits on the Geul river, and the surrounding hills host parts of the Amstel Gold Race professional cycling route. The park draws riders from across South Limburg and visiting tourists. The thermal baths at Thermae 2000 offer luxurious relaxation after a skating session - perhaps the most upscale post-skate option in the entire Netherlands.
