About Skatepark Oudegein
Nieuwegein's Oudegein skatepark sits in this Utrecht satellite city that was purpose-built in the 1970s to house overflow population from Utrecht. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, a quarter pipe, and flat bars within the pleasant Oudegein park setting. Nieuwegein was created by merging two small villages and building an entirely new city between them - a process that resulted in a modern, functional but sometimes characterless urban environment. The park provides welcome recreation in this planned community. The Lek river runs along the city's south side, and Fort Jutphaas is one of the fortifications in the New Dutch Waterline, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The sneltram (fast tram) connects directly to Utrecht center in about twenty minutes. The park draws riders from across Nieuwegein and provides a solid local spot with good concrete quality.
