About Skatepark Leerdam
Leerdam's skatepark serves this small Utrecht city renowned for its glass-making heritage - the Royal Leerdam Crystal factory has been producing fine glassware since 1765. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, a quarter pipe, and flat bars. Leerdam's compact center retains several historic buildings, and the Glasmuseum celebrates the city's centuries-long relationship with glass production. The surrounding Vijfheerenlanden - Five Lords' Lands - is a polder landscape of dairy farms and fruit orchards that produces much of the Netherlands' cherry and apple crop. The park draws riders from the local community and provides a recreational outlet in this small-city setting. The Linge river, one of the Netherlands' last free-flowing rivers, winds through the landscape just south of town. Spring brings spectacular blossom to the orchards, making the ride to the park particularly beautiful.
