About Skatepark Kampen
Kampen's skatepark serves this beautifully preserved Hanseatic city on the IJssel river, where medieval merchant wealth built one of the finest cityscapes in the eastern Netherlands. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, a quarter pipe, and flat bars. Kampen's three surviving city gates, numerous wall towers, and Gothic churches create an extraordinarily intact medieval ensemble. The city was once one of the most important trading ports in the Low Countries, and the merchants' houses along the IJssel testify to that wealth. The park draws riders from Kampen and the surrounding polder landscape, where the IJsseldelta meets the former Zuiderzee. The Kampereiland, a large island formed by IJssel branches, offers flat cycling through agricultural land with enormous skies. The park is well-connected by bus to Zwolle, and the riverside setting provides atmospheric backdrop for sessions.
