About Skatepark IJmuiden
IJmuiden's skatepark sits in this North Holland port city at the entrance to the North Sea Canal, where massive ocean-going vessels pass through the largest sea lock in the world. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, a quarter pipe, and flat bars. IJmuiden is a fishing port and industrial city - the Tata Steel complex and the Velsen harbor create a working-class, maritime atmosphere. The beach at IJmuiden is one of the wider stretches of sand along the Dutch coast, and the harbor piers offer dramatic views of ships entering and leaving the canal. The park draws riders from the IJmond region and provides an outdoor skating spot with genuine industrial-maritime character. The Driehuis crematorium nearby, designed by architect Willem Dudok, is considered one of the finest examples of Dutch modernist architecture. Fresh fish from the auction hall is the local specialty.
