About Skatepark Assen
The capital of Drenthe, Assen hosts the famous Dutch TT motorcycle Grand Prix at the TT Circuit - one of the oldest and most prestigious races in motorcycle sport. The concrete park features ledges, banks, a bowl, manual pads, and quarter pipes. Assen is a small, manageable city with a pleasant center and strong connections to the surrounding Drenthe landscape of forests, heathland, and ancient hunebedden (megalithic dolmens). These 5,000-year-old stone monuments are the Netherlands' oldest man-made structures, scattered across the Drenthe countryside. The Drents Museum in Assen has an excellent collection including the famous Pesse canoe, the world's oldest known boat. The park draws riders from across Drenthe and provides the province's primary skate destination.
