Liepāja's skatepark near the beach in Jūrmalas Park serves Latvia's rock-and-roll capital - the city's music tradition earned it the nickname and its annual Summer Sound festival draws thousands. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Liepāja's wide sandy beach, the haunting Karosta military district (a former Russian/Soviet naval base with a military prison you can sleep in), and the Holy Trinity Cathedral with one of the world's largest pre-WWII mechanical organs define this windswept Baltic city.
