Kandava's skatepark serves this small Kurzeme town dramatically perched above the Abava river valley - the ancient 'Abava Switzerland' landscape of red sandstone cliffs, castle mounds, and river bends is one of Latvia's most scenic areas. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Kandava's medieval powder tower, the old town's sloping streets, and the Abava valley wine-growing tradition (Latvia's unlikely wine region) give it outsized charm. The park draws riders from the Abava valley. The food is Kurzeme rural with a twist - local wine from Abava vineyards, farm cheese, smoked meats, and the seasonal bounty of this fertile valley.
