Riga's Daugavgrīva skatepark serves this northern district at the mouth of the Daugava river where it meets the Gulf of Riga - historically a fortress area guarding the river entrance to the capital. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Daugavgrīva's fortress ruins, sandy beaches, and the wild Daugava delta create a surprisingly untamed landscape within city limits. The nearby Bolderāja neighborhood was historically a fishing village. The park draws riders from northern Riga. The food is Baltic coastal - smoked fish from the gulf, traditional Latvian rye bread, and the simple seaside fare of this river-mouth district.
