About Alūksne Skatepark
Alūksne's skatepark serves this northeastern Vidzeme town on the shores of Lake Alūksne, where the Livonian Order built a castle on a lake island connected by a charming wooden bridge. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Alūksne is famous for the narrow-gauge railway (Bānītis) to Gulbene, one of the last functioning narrow-gauge lines in the Baltics, and Ernst Glück translated the Bible into Latvian here in the 17th century. The park draws riders from the Alūksne highlands. The food is northern Latvian - hearty soups, smoked fish from the lake, rye bread, and the preserves that sustain communities through long winters.
