About Villa Dante Skatepark
Messina's 2023 skatepark in the Villa Dante park serves this Sicilian city on the strait separating the island from the Italian mainland. The concrete park features modern design with ledges, banks, manual pads, quarter pipes, and flat bars. Messina was devastated by the 1908 earthquake and tsunami - one of the deadliest in European history - and was rebuilt in an eclectic style. The Norman cathedral, reconstructed multiple times, contains one of the world's largest astronomical clocks. The strait's currents are treacherous - the mythological Scylla and Charybdis guarded these waters - but the views across to Calabria are stunning. The park draws riders from the Messina area.
