About Reggio Calabria Skatepark
Reggio Calabria's skatepark sits along the Lungomare Falcomatà, which D'Annunzio called 'the most beautiful kilometer in Italy' for its views across the Strait of Messina to Sicily and Mount Etna. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, quarter pipes, and flat bars. Reggio's Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia houses the Bronzi di Riace - two extraordinary ancient Greek bronze statues pulled from the sea - considered among the finest surviving examples of Classical Greek sculpture. The city was devastated by the 1908 earthquake and rebuilt in art nouveau style. The park draws riders from Italy's toe-tip. The food is Calabrese - bergamot (the citrus that flavors Earl Grey tea is grown almost exclusively here), swordfish, and pasta with nduja. The Aspromonte mountains rise steeply behind the city.
