About Piazzale Ilio Skatepark
Trapani's skatepark serves this western Sicilian city perched on a sickle-shaped promontory between two seas. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, quarter pipes, and flat bars. Trapani's salt pans - still producing sea salt using methods dating back to the Phoenicians - are one of Sicily's most iconic landscapes, with windmills reflected in pink-tinted evaporation ponds. The Egadi Islands are visible offshore, and ferries depart regularly for Favignana, famous for its tuna mattanza tradition. The park draws riders from western Sicily. The food is uniquely Trapanese - couscous alla trapanese (a North African inheritance), busiate pasta with pesto trapanese, and the extraordinary cassata siciliana.
