Salerno's Parco del Mercatello skatepark serves this Campanian port city that's the gateway to the divine Amalfi Coast. The concrete park features ledges, banks, manual pads, quarter pipes, and flat bars. Salerno's lungomare is beautiful, the medieval Duomo houses Saint Matthew's relics, and the Christmas Luci d'Artista light installations transform the city each winter. The Amalfi Coast - Positano, Amalfi, Ravello - begins just west, with their pastel-colored houses clinging to vertiginous cliffs above turquoise water. The park draws riders from the Salerno area. The food is exceptional Campanian - pizza, fresh mozzarella, limoncello, and the seafood from the Salerno gulf. The ancient Greek temples at Paestum are just south.
