About Athlone Skatepark
At the geographic center of Ireland, where the Shannon River bisects the town, Athlone's skatepark serves this midlands hub. The park features a bowl, quarter pipes, ledges, a flat rail, and a gap. Athlone's massive medieval castle guards the Shannon crossing, and the town straddles the river between counties Westmeath and Roscommon. The Shannon provides boating and fishing, and Lough Ree to the north is one of the great Irish lakes. The town's pubs - particularly Sean's Bar, possibly the world's oldest - have legendary status.
