About Arklow Skatepark
In the south Wicklow seaside town of Arklow - with its rich maritime and mining history - this skatepark serves the community at the mouth of the Avoca River. The park features a mini ramp, quarter pipes, ledges, a flat rail, and a gap. Arklow was once a major shipbuilding center, and the maritime museum tells that story. The Avoca Mines upstream were among the oldest mines in Europe, and the river's distinctive copper-red coloring reflects that heritage. The town has a pleasant main street with traditional pubs and shops, and the South Beach provides coastal recreation. Local riders enjoy the seaside atmosphere, and the park serves as a gathering point for south Wicklow's youth. The nearby Vale of Avoca - inspiration for Thomas Moore's famous poem - is one of Ireland's most scenic valleys.
