OAKA Plaza Skatepark sits right inside the Athens Olympic Sports Complex in Marousi, the massive venue built for the 2004 Summer Olympics. The park is laid out on the wide plaza area beneath Santiago Calatrava's iconic arching roof structure, giving it a dramatic architectural backdrop that's hard to beat anywhere in the world. The layout is primarily street-oriented with a mix of ledges, flat bars, manual pads, and some banks that flow together nicely. Skaters tend to session the ledge line along the main walkway, and there's a solid bank-to-ledge setup in the corner that gets a lot of use. The ground is smooth and well-maintained, and the Olympic Complex grounds around it offer plenty of space to warm up or cruise around. There's a metro station nearby (Irini), so getting there without a car is pretty easy. The area is wide open with very little shade, so summer sessions are best done early morning or late afternoon when the Athens heat dies down.
